I received this most awesome package in the mail today, an almost full run of Real Deal comics (Issue #2 has long been sold out ever since the Beastie Boys gave them props in Grand Royal magazine during the early 90's). Real Deal is how comics should be, raw and pure. Let me give you a little sample of some of the genius writing (Issue #4):

Swedish Robot Uprising

A Swedish company has been fined 25,000 kronor ($3,000) after a malfunctioning robot attacked and almost killed one of its workers at a factory north of Stockholm.

Public prosecutor Leif Johansson mulled pressing charges against the firm but eventually opted to settle for a fine.

"I've never heard of a robot attacking somebody like this," he told news agency TT.

The incident took place in June 2007 at a factory in Bålsta, north of Stockholm, when the industrial worker was trying to carry out maintenance on a defective machine generally used to lift heavy rocks. Thinking he had cut off the power supply, the man approached the robot with no sense of trepidation.

But the robot suddenly came to life and grabbed a tight hold of the victim's head. The man succeeded in defending himself but not before suffering serious injuries.

"The man was very lucky. He broke four ribs and came close to losing his life," said Leif Johansson.

The matter was subject to an investigation by both the Swedish Work Environment Authority (Arbetsmiljöverket) and the police.

A cyclist was knocked out after being hit by a corpse thrown from a speeding car.

Student Wu Dan, 16, was riding home when the incident happened.

His uncle Yun Tsui said: "A car passed and a package came flying out the door. It had a dead woman inside. My nephew was very upset."

Police believe she was the victim of a car accident and was being dumped by the driver who had hit her in Dongyang, eastern China.

A judge has issued a warrant for the arrest of Thomas Leopold, a college principal, amid warnings from doctors that he is contaminated with a "dangerous" level of radiation.

The 42-year-old was due to face trial for downloading indecent images of children but fled Britain after receiving large doses of radiotherapy treatment for a thyroid condition.

Southwark Crown Court heard that Mr Leopold could harm anyone he comes into contact, due to the radiation.

Judge John Price said: "Please warn officers that when he is arrested he might be radioactive."

He added: "This is not a joke."

Time Travelers Swiss Watch Found In Undisturbed Tomb

Archeologists in China are baffled after finding a tiny Swiss watch in a 400-year-old tomb.

The watch ring was discovered as archeologists were making a documentary with two journalists from Shangsi town.

"When we tried to remove the soil wrapped around the coffin, a piece of rock suddenly dropped off and hit the ground with a metallic sound,? said Jiang Yanyu, former curator of the Guangxi Autonomous Region Museum.

"We picked up the object, and found it was a ring. After removing the covering soil and examining it further, we were shocked to see it was a watch."

The time was stopped at 10:06am, and on the back was engraved the word "Swiss", reports the People's Daily.

Local experts say they are confused as they believe the tomb had been undisturbed since it was created during the Ming dynasty 400 years ago.

They have suspended the dig and are waiting for experts to arrive from Beijing and help them unravel the mystery.

Lightning Strike Kills 52 Cows

The newspaper El Pais reports that the cows had pressed against a wire fence during a storm when the lightning bolt struck in the northern state of San Jose.

A photograph released by the San Jose Police Department shows the black and brown cows lying dead in a long row.

The newspaper said Friday that veterinarians at the scene confirmed the cause of the deaths, which happened Wednesday. The veterinarians told the newspaper that cows often crowd around fences to seek protection during storms.

Meteorologist Fernando Torena told the newspaper he wasn't surprised that a single lightning bolt killed so many cows. But he called it "very bad luck."

Seriously?!?! I thought I was pretty clear last week. Apparently, enough of you thought that watching talking chihuahuas was something you should really spend a couple hours of your lives watching, enough that it happened again?!?! Did someone come out of this movie last week and tell you how fucking good that talking chihuahua movie was?!?! Is this some kind of brain-washing Disney cult thing?!?! Seriously, what the fuck is going on?!?!

I can almost understand if the children are to blame, almost. However, it is your responsibility as an authority figure to slap the shit out of them and tell them how fucking stupid and just wrong it would be to watch such a movie. The same diligence with which you teach your children not to stick forks into light sockets should be used with a movie like this. How about making the little shits go (gasp) to a park, or museum, or even an art gallery? Something that might actually benefit them in the future perhaps?

Thinking about sitting through a Disney movie about CGI anthropomorphized talking chihuahuas, I can immediately imagine several excruciatingly painful things that I would rather have done to my testicles.

Really? Really? Nobody can solve this incredible mystery? How about looking into the 7.5 million gallons of untreated sewage and 52 million gallons of partially-treated sewage that overflowed into the Grand River last weekend? Or the 749,000 gallons of untreated sewage that was released into the Grand River in Grand Ledge? Or maybe it was the 94 million gallons of sewage released into the Clinton River and Lake St. Clair? The E. coli strain found last week at MSU is E. coli 0157:H7, commonly transmitted by eating undercooked, contaminated ground beef, drinking unpasteurized milk, swimming in or drinking contaminated water, and eating contaminated vegetables. Eh, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the water systems though, probably just a bad burger...
