Golden Eagle Killed By Lions AT Vancouver Zoo
In other elementary education news:
"A golden eagle from the raptor show had perched high on a log about ten feet up in the air. A few crows took exception to the invasion and started harassing the eagle by aggressively swooping down on it, when suddenly two of the lionesses snuck up on it. They jumped on the log attempting to attack the eagle, but missed. The eagle managed to fly away but right into the waiting jaws of a third lioness, who pounced on it."
Su's daughter burst into tears at the events unfolding in front of her, which he says served to remind her that lions are "by no means cuddly."
"It was such a well co-ordinated attack, the poor thing had no chance," he said. "The handlers arrived within seconds but could only watch helplessly as the lioness bounded away with her prize."

Japanese Elementary Kids Get Whale Slaughtering Tour
I've always believed that a tour of a local butcher shop should be mandatory for every elementary class:
Yuna and a few dozen classmates from local elementary schools visited the whale slaughterhouse in Wadamachi, one of Japan's four coastal towns allowed to catch a small number of the ocean giants.
Clutching a notebook and a pencil, Yuna and her classmates occupied the front row of the crowd Wednesday, bending forward to watch a 10-metre (33-foot) animal -- the town's first catch of the three-month season -- be dismembered.
"Look! That's her heart!" Yuna said to her friends with her face half covered by her hand. "Oh no, so much blood is gushing out."
Another schoolgirl, Honami Shoji, 11, said, "I feel bad for the animal."
"But we also eat the meat and appreciate it," she said calmly. "We're lucky to be born in this town."
Schoolchildren of Wadamachi, about 70 kilometres (45 miles) southeast of Tokyo, have watched the whale slaughter since 1999 in this town which is allowed to catch 26 Baird's beaked whales each season.

Chase, The Cat With No Face
Bwaah-hah-haha...ha...I was in an accident when I was 4 wks, I became disfigured. I have a Furry Will to survive and I am completely healed now at age 3. I require medication during the day to keep my eyes moist. I will always look different but I am in NO PAIN! I have seen 10 vets and they can attest to that! I'm a happy kitty and hope to help other humans (especially those disfigured) thru my work as a therapy cat feel just as great about themselves and realize that not everyone looks perfect and that is OK.

Experiments With Rats Wearing Underpants

European Urology 1993; 24: 375-380:
The effect of wearing different types of textiles on sexual activity was studied in 75 rats which were divided into five equal groups: four test groups and one control. Each of the four test groups were dressed in one type of textile pants made of either 100% polyester, 50/50% polyester/cotton mix, 100% cotton or 100% wool. Sexual behavior was assessed before and after 6 and 12 months of wearing the pants and 6 months after their removal. The rate of intromission to mounting (IIM) was determined. The electrostatic potentials generated on penis and scrotum were also measured by electrostatic kilovoltmeter. At 6 and 12 months of wearing the polyester and polyester-cotton mix pants, the I/M ratio was significantly reduced compared to the pre-test levels and the controls (p <> 0.05) at the 6th month of the study and a significant increase at the 12th month (p <> 0.05) in the four groups. The polyester-containing pants generated electrostatic potentials while the other textiles did not. These potentials seem to induce “electrostatic fields” in the intrapenile structures, which could explain the decrease in the rats’ sexual activity.

Punisher War Zone Teaser
Guns, explosions, and slicked back hair. Pretty much verifies my suspicions that this is going to be much worse than the last version. How do you screw up what should be one of Marvel's coolest characters? Seriously, why don't they just add Steven Seagal to the roster and put this failed experiment to rest:

Kucinich Introduces Bush Impeachment Resolution
Rep. Dennis Kucinich, a former Democratic presidential contender, said Monday he wants the House to consider a resolution to impeach President Bush.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi consistently has said impeachment was ''off the table.''
Kucinich, D-Ohio, read his proposed impeachment language in a floor speech. He contended Bush deceived the nation and violated his oath of office in leading the country into the Iraq war.
Kucinich introduced a resolution last year to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney. That resolution was killed, but only after Republicans initially voted in favor of taking up the measure to force a debate.
