Only pieces of the party balloons have been found by searchers looking for Reverend Adelir Antonio de Carli off the coast of Santa Catarina state, the Associated Press reported.

Mr de Carli, 41, lifted off from the port city of Paranagua yesterday afternoon wearing a helmet, thermal suit and a parachute.

He was reported missing about eight hours later after losing contact with port authority officials, according to the treasurer of his Sao Cristovao parish, Denise Gallas.

Mr di Carli had been trying to break a 19-hour record for flying with balloons to raise money for a spiritual rest-stop for truckers in Paranagua, Brazil's second-largest port for agricultural products.

A Frankfort man was arrested on drug trafficking charges early Sunday morning after he was reportedly pumping gas into an imaginary vehicle. According to the arrest report, Metro Police arrived at a gas station at First and Jefferson streets in Louisville and immediately smelled marijuana coming from Joshua L. Moore, who station clerks contend was filling up an imaginary vehicle.

Officers searched Moore and found "two large baggies" of marijuana and a large amount of Ecstasy. Police said Moore also had a cell phone and a large amount of money, which they said was indicative of trafficking.

A policeman suffered psychiatric injury from attending traumatic events including an incident in which human flesh fell into his mouth, a judge has been told.

The incident occurred in 1992 when Christopher Cavanagh was required to recover pieces of the body of a worker who had fallen into a garbage shredder at a Sydney railway station.

While the incident led to his being medically discharged in 1994, the one-time NSW Police Rescue Squad officer had attended other horrific scenes, including the 1977 Granville rail disaster and a death scene where dogs had eaten part of a man.

Mr Cavanagh, now 58, of Northmead in Sydney's west, wants to take NSW Supreme Court damages action against the state, claiming he suffered psychiatric injury as a result of its negligence.

A bizarre find in Pioneer Park Pond in Brigham City, Utah has biologists stumped.

A fish with fangs was discovered; now officials are trying to figure out what exactly it is.

Craig Schaugaard, Aquatic Manger for the Department of Wildlife Resources, said, "When we first saw that fish, we thought, ‘What in the crap is this thing?"

Theatregoers in South Korea are being showered in blood during a gory stage production of The Evil Dead.

About five litres of fake blood are sprayed on the front rows during each performance of the musical, which is based on Sam Raimi's cult 1981 film.

The Chungmu Art Hall offers free coats to those in the "splatter zone", but not everyone is taking up the offer.

"I dressed in white on purpose," said Yoon Dong-suk, 28. "I'm showered in blood now and this blood tastes sweet."
